Massage the feet and legs

You need not be pregnant to reap the benefits from this massage oil! Tired legs, swollen ankles, sore feet, restless legs and cramps in the legs can all be a problem at some stage during your pregnancy. Massaging the feet, ankle and legs is an excellent way to help overcome most of these problems. It is also great for everyday relaxation after a day on your feet and can be quite addictive.

A foot and leg massage helps increase blood flow to reduce tension in tired, swollen or achy limbs. A lot of pressure can especially build in the calf or arch of your foot.

Using natural oils and fragrances coupled with your partner and a relaxing atmosphere will do wonders to fight cramp, and soothe you into a deep, replenishing, sleep.

Perfect for mothers or anyone who needs to recline after a hard day!

It is also great for everyday relaxation after a day on your feet and can be quite addictive.

Foot Massage has been shown to help reduce pain post caesarian section and to help with relaxation during labour.

Nothing but the best ingredients

Nothing but the best ingredients

All Motherlylove products have been formulated and blended by our founder, Jan, a qualified midwife and aromatherapist with years of experience. Find out more about all our oils here.

They are safe and effective for mother and her unborn baby.

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) oil

Sweet Almond Oil is rich in all important omegas and very nourishing. It is highly moisturising and quickly absorbed, leaving a soft sheen on the skin with no residue. It is reputed to soothe skin irritations, dryness and soreness. Sweet almond oil is widely used in massage oils as it not only contains vitamins D and E, but also oleic and linoleic acids which are beneficial for the promotion of healthy skin.

Cocus Nucifera (Coconut) oil

Coconut oil has high moisture retaining capacity. When applied to your skin this is what prevents it from drying out and cracking, providing significant improvement in skin hydration and water content. In this way it acts as an excellent moisturiser for your skin. It provides a softening and soothing effect of any itchiness and dryness. An excellent skin nourisher providing all the energy your skin needs to heal and maintain itself.

Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) seed oil

This rich, golden oil has a slightly nutty smell. It has a high content of vitamins A, D, E and F (essential fatty acids). Baobab oil is said to provide impressive moisturizing benefits to the skin and hair. It absorbs quickly, improves elasticity, encourages regeneration of skin cells and does not clog the pores. Used for dry skin care, it has a richness and softens the skin maintaining its natural elasticity.

Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) oil

The benefits of Lavender oil are endless. It is one of the most versatile essential oils in nature and has a sweet herbaceous aroma. The fragrance is very relaxing , balancing and calming to the body and mind. An evaluative study (Burns et al 1999) was conducted in Oxford to investigate offering aromatherapy to women in childbirth. The study findings suggested that lavender oil reduced anxiety, fear and pain, increasing maternal coping capacity during childbirth. Mothers responded very positively to this essential oil being given in a perineal lavage after the birth.

Mentha Pipirata (Peppermint) oil

Peppermint oil is a pale colourless oil , with a cool grassy minty aroma. It contains menthol, which has a cooling effect on the skin. It has been shown that menthol generates the cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels and interacts with cold- sensitive nerve endings. Peppermint oil’s aroma has found to provide relief from stress and mental exhaustion due to its refreshing nature. It is also effective against restlessness.

Jan's Tip

Let your partner pamper you during this time, as a foot massage before bed is the best present ever. It will relax you, aid sleep, relieve tired legs and sore muscles someone can give you. Feet can get very cold in labour, and this is a good way to warm them up.

The foot loose massage oil really works! I bought a 30ml bottle just to have around if I started to get calf cramps during the night. Once they kicked in I found this oil worked wonders, so it’s now a part of my nightly routine. It means I don’t wake up in the night with painful cramps so I can recommend this product to others. I’ve since been back for the large bottle and I also like that I can use it beyond pregnancy for restless legs which I get from time to time.

I met Jan at the baby and toddler show in Manchester, I have a lot of skin allergies and suffer from leg cramps and sore feet. Jan gave great advice and listened to all my needs. I'm using foot loose which is amazing, non greasy, lovely smelling and eases the pain. I also bought the pamper mum bath oil which is everything you want from a bath oil. I never want to get out of the bath and feel amazing after. Would highly recommend these products to any pregnant lady that wants to pamper themselves x

Jan, we used the Motherlylove Footloose Soothing Lotion on my daughter who has just given birth to twins - she found the whole experience of taking time out - pampering with the beautiful relaxing lotion- a real treat and benefit, not only to feet/ ankles / and lower legs but also to her well being of 'time out ' and self preservation x thank you for introducing the product to us - and as a midwife myself I shall recommend the regime to my pregnant clients x
